Meet Luke – the newest member of our team and someone who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Surround.

Luke, we’re so excited to have you on our team. Why do you love being a landscape architect?

I love that I can pull my experiences in horticulture and landscape construction together, along with my passion for being creative. I love working at the interface of these worlds.

I love the problem-solving that goes into each project, working out the best function and use of  a space. Being able to deliver a design that ticks all of the clients’ needs and wants gives me great joy.

Tell us: what should a client do before meeting you?

Research! If a client can do a little bit of research into what they like before engaging with a landscape architect that helps everyone get on the same page.

Any research tips?

Pictures are fantastic. Some clients send us a couple of pictures off google, others send thoroughly curated picture boards created on Pinterest.

Whatever you can manage will help us a lot – we’re experts at analyasing your likes and tastes from a collection of photos, even if you can’t work out the common theme.

Cool. So what happens in that first meeting with the client?

Get excited! This is the start of a process which is going to change the function of your home, and your lifestyle. In that first meeting, we work with you to begin to build a vision of your perfect outdoor space – a place you’ll create lifelong memories with family and friends.

Do you have a piece of advice you think would be helpful to clients?

Yes, be open to alternative design ideas from your landscape architect. We have your best interest in mind, and sometimes achieving the best function and feel to your project will challenge your initial vision.

I’m so excited to bring my knowledge and skills to the table, to deliver exceptional, functional outdoor spaces to clients.

For me, the success is in the detail – I pride myself on creating designs that tick every box. A pretty picture is one thing, but there’s so much skill that goes into turning a dream into a reality.

There’s so much satisfaction for me in getting things perfect – I’m pumped about meeting with clients, developing great designs, and working closely with awesome people every step of the way.
