We’re a tight-knit team of people who know how to make the most of outdoor spaces. Quite simply, we’re people who care about people first. What you want, we want to make happen. What matters to you is our business. And we love what we do.
Kate Lainson
Kate grew up in Bonnet Bay. Her most favourite memories are of warm summers spent swimming in the pool, dad’s music blaring on the outdoor speakers, eating mangoes and having pool pony races, swimming ‘til she was pruney and the day was dark. Kate had a cubby house tucked down the side of the house where she played dolls, and trees in the front garden to hide behind during the endless hours of tip. Kate is a machine at marketing and comms. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and previously worked as an Associate in an engineering firm. Kate is hugely creative and loves seeing designs come to life.
Matt Lainson
Matt grew up in a quaint, single-storey home on the shores of Gunnamatta Bay, where he spent every second he could playing and swimming outside. Matt spent his summers jumping off the jetty and playing cricket on the grassy front lawn. Matt is the main man on the ground at Surround. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and is an experienced concreter, landscaper, and project manager. Matt brings a holistic approach to design, and loves finding innovative solutions to complex problems.
Luke Poulton
Luke’s interest in all things horticulture and landscaping began as a teenager. After school Luke started working for his dad as a horticulturalist, and he hasn’t looked back. After years of getting familiar with plants Luke got hooked on the construction side of things, completed his apprenticeship, and relocated to the UK. During his time overseas Luke worked in one of the largest horticulturalist companies in London, where he was exposed to some of the most amazing gardens in the world. This experience cultivated his passion for gardens and functional spaces and, returning to Australia, Luke decided to study Landscape Design. Since gaining his qualifications, Luke has had the opportunity to work with a bunch of companies all over – from central Sydney to the Blue Mountains, from the Northern Beaches to Western Sydney, Now based in the Sutherland Shire, Luke is an experienced and innovative designer who loves the challenge of working out the best function and use of every space. Luke is a big believer in the potential of outdoor spaces to completely change the experience of being at home, and delivering a design that ticks all the clients’ needs and wants gives him a massive buzz. Luke is all about the detail – he gets so much satisfaction out of getting things perfect. He loves interacting with clients, developing great designs, and meeting every challenge with a cracker of a smile!
Matt Wein
Matt grew up in Yarrawarrah, where he lived in a quiet street with a bunch of other kids. He loved playing street footy in the winter, street cricket in the summer, and making mountain bike tracks and mounds every other weekend. Matt has a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of New South Wales and is diving headfirst into a Certificate III in Horticulture. He provides exceptional quality architectural services, with a focus on delivering unique and sustainable design solutions to meet the individual needs of clients. A keen hiker and camper, Matt has a soft-spot for horticulture and particularly loves choosing unique plants to create stunning, multi-faceted garden compositions.
Scott Galley
Scott has over 20 years’ experience in Sales, Account Management and Business Development. He grew up in South London, which consisted mostly of concrete playgrounds with the odd patch of grass for a muddy kick about! When he was 11, Scott moved away from the big smoke and out to the leafier suburbs where he spent his days riding his bike and playing footy (soccer!?), climbing trees and getting into anything else that was going on. With his friends he loved spending the long summer days out until the sun went down. Scott’s a big believer in transparency and is passionate about nurturing every client and making sure they’re always across the process and costs.
Tylah Hornby
Tylah is our Admin Superstar. She provides the crucial office support that every great business demands. Tylah grew up in Kirrawee, with a huge backyard, great for practicing handstands and cartwheels. Tylah’s grandparents had swimming pools, so she spent loads of time there with her cousins. When Tylah was in primary school her family built their very own pool and her dad bought a boat – so safe to say her obsession with all things water started here. Her passion for life is all about the great outdoors. Not an hour was wasted indoors – Tylah was always in the pool with her siblings or cruising around the Port Hacking on the boat. Tylah loves meeting new clients and making sure they feel right at home.
