Meet Shannon

We're thrilled to introduce Shannon, our newest landscape designer at Surround! With a unique and diverse background in architecture, floristry, and landscape design, Shannon brings a fresh and creative perspective to our team. Let's get to know more about her journey and what she loves about her work.

A Little About Shannon

Shannon's path to landscape design is as dynamic as her designs. She studied architecture and spent some time as a florist before discovering her true passion for landscape architecture and design. Her career began with large-scale projects, including parks and streetscapes, before she transitioned to residential design. Growing up next to the bush, Shannon enjoyed countless bushwalks and camping holidays, all while being a dedicated bookworm. With gardening in her blood, thanks to her keen gardener grandparents, Shannon has recently started studying horticulture, a field she's absolutely loving.

Why Shannon Loves Being a Landscape Designer

For Shannon, the creative process of design is incredibly fulfilling. She loves gathering information, assessing challenges and opportunities, and dreaming up beautiful, functional spaces that people love to live in. Each project is unique, and she enjoys crafting designs that reflect that uniqueness.

Shannon's Advice for Clients Embarking on a Landscape Design Project

Shannon has some fantastic advice for anyone looking to start a landscape design project:

  • Define Your Goals: Think about what you want from your outdoor spaces. What are your goals for your design?

  • Get Inspired: Do some research, gather images of gardens and plants you love, and think about how you want to feel in your garden.

  • Communicate Your Dreams: The more information you can provide about your vision, the better Shannon and our team can help bring those dreams to life.

Shannon's Love for Plants

Shannon is a true plant lover and is currently studying horticulture to deepen her knowledge. She believes plants are essential to landscape design, providing structure, shade, privacy, beauty, color, texture, and biodiversity. Green spaces enhance our mood, reduce stress, and contribute to our overall well-being. Shannon always puts a lot of thought, research, and planning into selecting the best plants for each project, ensuring they complement the site's unique characteristics.
