What is a landscape design?

Our houses are way more than just houses; they are our homes.

Our safe spaces where we spend so many of our hours.

We want our houses to be their very best – to be spaces which can hold all the many parts of who we are as mums and dads, brothers and sisters and families. Whether it’s dinnertime, bathtime, time to argue over who has the remote – or all these times at once! –  we get that you want your home to be the place you feel most supported, and most yourself, in the world.

Think of a landscape design as the creative process that captures everything that is great about life outdoors.

Landscape design is a method of capturing the unique combination of outdoor elements that come together to create an aesthetically spectacular and completely functional outdoor space.

You want your time at home to count, right?

You want to make the most of the little piece of this planet that is yours – you want a backyard in which you can rest, work, play, love, live.

To get that, you need a plan. And a landscape design is that plan.

When designing indoor spaces, we know planning is everything.

We invest time into the planning and design of our homes so that we can capture light and breeze. We position bedrooms in places away from the noise of the kitchen and living rooms, to give privacy and create spaces of seclusion, as well as spaces we can gather.

Our outdoor spaces are no different, and a landscape design is the formal and visionary plan to create those spaces to give functionality and purpose, prettiness and practicality to the way you spend time outdoors.

As landscape designers, we are trained to maximise your outdoor potential so that it can be an extension of your indoors.

We’re here for you – to listen to your big dreams for your backyard and design the spaces you want to live your best outdoors life in.

While it’s true that sometimes these projects can seem overwhelming, a great design can give you a plan to execute – a path to follow to take exactly to where you want to go.

At Surround we want to get you there.
