What’s a town planner and how do they fit into the design process?

We are all about streamlining the process of design and construction.

When you engage with us, we’re thinking holistically about your project. It’s not all about pretty planting and natural stones (but they are very awesome), we’re considering functionality of the design and most importantly compliance. How can we best ensure our designs get approved and built.

Not all designs will need to go through an approval process, and it’s within our scope to have you understand what does and doesn’t require approval. So when it does we’ll be chatting to you about how we gain approval and what we need to do to give us the very best chance to succeed. Sometimes spaces can be tricky, as can local councils. Where a DA is required, and your site might pose some interesting challenges we’ll often recommend the engagement of a town planner.

A town planners role extends waaaaaaay beyond the paperwork, they enhance your projects success and avoid nasty obstacles.

Here’s some other reasons why we like to engage a town planner.

-          They know the ins and outs of how councils work and often have long standing relationships with them.

-          They know all the information required when submitting a DA.

-          They further streamline the process and make it more efficient.

-          The problem solve early to alleviate future stress and negative outcomes

These processes might feel a little overwhelming as you embark on your first landscape design project. Whilst we’ll make the recommendations to you to engage the planner, we’ll be the ones communicating and collaborating with them throughout the design process to give your project the best shot at success.
